This is an extra long medium bulky weight cloche style round cap with thin purple & pale yellow stripes in soy silk. The black design work is Merino wool, and all the colored stripes except for the variegated green are Corriedale wool. The many-toned green flower and stripe around the crown of the hat are made from some very special yarn spun by Chris at Joybilee Farm. It's four ply and has randomly placed little rosettes worked in during the plying process. Two of the plys are wool and the other two are silk. All four plys were hand painted in various shades of green. This is a technique that I've never tried and probably never will, as I'm sure it takes hours to do! I've been saving this yarn for some time waiting for just the right time to use it. I think it works really well with the colors in this hat, and makes an extra nice flower. |
